Background

Food Detectives, a program of The Beecher’s Foundation, empowers kids with the skills to see through food marketing and make informed, confident choices—at home, in school, and in their communities. People People partnered with the Foundation to reimagine the brand from the ground up, creating a joyful, modern identity and digital experience that makes nutrition education easy, engaging, and accessible for families and classrooms alike.

Our work spanned brand strategy, visual identity, illustration, messaging, copywriting, photography, and a fully redesigned website. The result is a flexible, character-driven system that brings nutrition education to life—making it easy for parents, teachers, and students to jump in, explore, and learn.

Graphic-novel style color, angles, and motion give Food Detectives a modern, dynamic feel—while Chip & Dip anchor the system with familiar personality, creating a unified world across every touchpoint.

To bring the Food Detectives experience to life for prospective teachers, we produced a photoshoot and video shoot that captured the program in action. By blending real classroom environments with controlled studio setups, we were able to showcase authentic student engagement alongside crisp, versatile hero imagery. The result is a robust image and video library that gives the Food Detectives team flexible assets for their website, presentations, social media, and marketing—helping them tell a consistent, compelling story across every touchpoint.

The Food Detectives color palette is bright, energetic, and intentionally kid-forward—built to spark curiosity and make nutrition education feel fun and inviting. We paired bold primaries inspired by produce and grocery packaging with lighter pastels to create balance, accessibility, and plenty of room for playful combinations. The expanded palette gives the team flexibility across digital and print applications, ensuring everything from worksheets to web pages feels lively, modern, and unmistakably Food Detectives.
